Movies by Moonlight

Scappoose Public Library and the City of Scappoose are proud to announce free Movies by Moonlight in Heritage Park to be held each Friday in the month of August at Heritage Park in Scappoose (52469 SE Second Street). A series of seven family friendly movies will be shown with thematic activities and events each night. Enjoy a summer evening outside. Food vendors will be on site with snacks and full meals available for purchase.
  • August 6th: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)First Responder’s night and bike night with the Scappoose Police Department with free bike helmets for kids and free bike safety checks.  A kiddie bike course will be on site, big fun!
  • August 13th: Grease Sing-A-Long (1978)Dance contest, ice cream social at the Grant Watts house, and dress up!  In conjunction with the Scappoose 100 Celebration Festival.
  • August 14th (Saturday): Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)Live music and family fun in Conjunction with the Scappoose 100 Year celebration Festival.
  • August 20th: Hairspray (1988)Pizza Bingo with Fultanos Pizza.  Twist dance contest!
  • August 27th: Toy Story 4 (2019)Best Toy contest.  Dress up as your favorite Toy Story Character contest. 
  • September 3rd: Twilight (2008)Thriller dance lessons and contest, free Twilight Cake from Fred Meyer, Twilight Trivia.  Twilight book giveaways.
  • September 18th: Hidden Figures (2016) Hidden Figures see the movie in conjunction with Columbia County reads Hidden Figures.  Free book giveaway.

All movies start at dusk with pre-movie events beginning at 7 PM. Load up the car and bring the kids, blankets, and a stadium chair for some free evenings outside at the movies. In the event of rain, the showing will be rescheduled. Please remember that alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the park. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Columbia County is participating in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  Kids 0-5 years old can be signed-up to receive a FREE book every month in the mail.   The program is designed to encourage a love of reading from an early age.
