Director Bio

Hired in 2017, Jeff Weiss has been the Executive Director of the Scappoose Public Library for more than eight years.

In his time as Director, Weiss has expanded existing programs and developed new programming, with results that include:
    • Increasing circulation from 52,000 to over 100,000 items.
    • Starting and producing city wide outdoor events.
    • Increasing facility use from 37,000 visits to 71,000 visits.
    • Quadrupling the number of public programs and attendance.

Weiss has a 30-year career and extensive experience in a variety of roles for library services. His career began as a student research instructor at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Weiss then worked for Muncie Public Library for more than 25 years, starting as a library branch head, then head of collection development and head of technical services.  Weiss accepted the position as Executive Director of the Scappoose Public Library to work to improve a small-town library.

Weiss graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Media Science from Purdue University and a Masters of Library Science from Ball State University.
