Scappoose Public Library Authors Festival

The Scappoose Public Library is excited to announce the first-ever SPLAF! Held on October 11, 2025, 11 AM–3 PM in the library’s meeting room, the festival will feature twelve local authors in a variety of genres.

During the event, authors will read from their latest releases, answer audience questions, and have copies of their books to sell (and sign!) for attendees. Each author will read for approximately ten minutes, and between readings attendees are encouraged to visit authors at their tables.

The reading schedule is:

  • 11:30 AM:

    • Emmeline Duncan — Mayhem at a Halloween Wedding — Cozy Mystery
    • Ellen Jacobson — Poisoned by the Pier — Cozy Mystery
  • 1:30 PM:
    • Shaun Kennedy — The Last Sin of Ebenezer Scrooge — Fantasy
    • KD Jewell — A Refracted Fairytale — Young Adult Fantasy
    • Stacy Benjamin — An Absolute Beginner's Guide to Raising Backyard Turkeys — Nonfiction: Agriculture and Farming
    • Buxton ManningThe Seagull's Nest — Adult Fiction

Columbia County is participating in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  Kids 0-5 years old can be signed-up to receive a FREE book every month in the mail.   The program is designed to encourage a love of reading from an early age.
