Closed Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Scappoose Public Library will be closed Monday, January 19th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

New Monday Book Clubs

We are introducing new book clubs in 2026! These book clubs will meet on the first floor of the Library at 6:00 PM, after the library has closed. The Romance Book Club meets on the second Monday of each month and is starting with A Court of Thorns and Roses on January 12th. The Genre Book Club meets on the fourth Monday of each month and is starting with Mystery on January 26th. And the True Crime Book Club meets on the third Monday of each month, starting with The Trial of Lizzie Borden on February 16th.

Brand New Cultural Passes

Cultural Pass for the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education and a parking permit for ODFW Wildlife Areas which includes Sauvie Island.

Events:

Nature Board Game Night presented by the Scappoose Bay Watershed Council

Connect with nature and community this winter by playing nature themed board games such as: Wingspan, Cascadia, and more! Wednesday, February 4th at 6 PM.  This event is open to all ages!

We have a separate list of events for our youth! From toddlers to teenagers, there's something for every age range!

Weekly Adult Events

Fiber Friends

Bring your crafting project to the second floor of the Library every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Produce Distribution

Wednesdays, 10 AM–Noon. Free and open to all.

Ukulele Jam

Thursdays, 10 AM–Noon. Bring your ukulele to this sing- and play-along.

Board Game Nights

Thursdays, from 6 PM to 8 PM. These events are free and open without registration. Intended for adults.

Monthly Adult Events

Adult Craft Night

First Monday of the Month, 6–8 PM.  On January 5th we are making shrinky dinks!

FOSPL Book Sales

The Friends of the Scappoose Public Library hold a book sale in the basement of the library from 10 AM to 2 PM on the second Saturday of every even month.

The Writing Group

The Writing Group meets on the third Sunday of each month at the Scappoose Public Library!

January Book Club

To kick off 2026 we will be reading "No Ordinary Time" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. We will meet at 7 PM on Thursday, January 22, to discuss it. This meeting is held simultaneously in person and online.

January Board Meeting

The Scappoose Public Library Board will be meeting on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 7:00 PM. This meeting will be held in-person and broadcast online via Zoom. 

Genre Book Club

Introducing the Genre Book Club! We each read a book of our choice in the selected genre, and then meet on the fourth Monday of the month to discuss our books and the genre itself. Our first genre is Mystery, and our first meeting is January 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM.

Romance Book Club

The Romance Book Club is reading "People We Meet on Vacation" by Emily Henry. We will meet at 6:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026 to discuss it.

True Crime Book Club

Our True Crime Book Club starts in February with "The Trial of Lizzie Borden" by Cara Robertson. True Crime Book Club meets on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 PM. Our first meeting will be on February 16, 2026.

Genre Book Club

For the Genre Book Club, we each read a book of our choice in the selected genre, and then meet on the fourth Monday of the month to discuss our books and the genre itself. Our February genre is Fantasy, and our February meeting is at 6:00 PM on the 23rd.
